Before you begin your application, please ensure you have the following documents in PDF Form:
- South African Identity Document (ID) if a South African citizen or permanent resident, or Passport and Study, Refugee or ZEP Visa if not South African.
- Matric or Grade 12 Certificate, or latest results if still in Matric/Grade 12
Also, if you are already studying at a tertiary institution, you will need:
- Proof of Registration at your institution showing modules you are registered for this year
- Full Academic Transcript (not older than 3 months, and showing both modules passed and failed)
- Proof of Bursary (contract or financial statement from the institution showing the amount awarded) if you are financing your tuition via a bursary,
- Financial Statement from your institution (not older than 3 months) if you are financing your studies yourself or via your caregiver or other third-party
As part of the application, you will also need to write answers to 4 questions of no more than 300 words each. These must be in your own words (no use of ChatGPT or other AI programs). It will be useful if you work on preparing answers to the questions before starting the application. The questions are:
- Your Impact as a Teacher: How do you think you can help your learners and the community? Share experiences or people in your life that have shown you how important a teacher can be.
- Facing Challenges: Tell us about a challenge you faced in your life or school. How did you deal with it, and what did you learn from that experience? How can this help you as a teacher?
- Knowing Yourself: What are three strengths you have that will make you a good teacher? Also, what are three areas you want to improve? How will you work on these areas to become a better teacher?
- Education’s Importance in Society: Why do you think education is important for making South Africa a fair and equal place? Use examples or research to support your thoughts on how education can change lives.
